Tonbridge Lions Club organised its fifth Classic Car Tour on Sunday 15th July.

The Deputy Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling Borough, Councillor Jill Anderson, started the fifty three entrants at Tonbridge Castle. The cars then travelled through the varied and picturesque Kent & Sussex countryside for lunch at Barnsgate Manor near Uckfield.  After lunch they returned by a different route to Tonbridge Castle where they were greeted by Lion President Tom Simmons and his wife Vanessa.  The drivers and passengers then enjoyed a cream tea in the castle grounds.

The cars were a varied cross section of classic cars spanning over 80 years, among the oldest being a 1934 MG PA, a 1934 MG PA Midget and a 1935 Lagonda M35R.

Chairman of the Committee, Lion Mike Edwards, said ‘This was the fifth year we have held the event and the feedback from the participants was again very complimentary and we plan to hold the event again next year”.

Tonbridge Lions Club would like to thank Martin & Co.,  Hadlow Stair Garage and Warners Solicitors for providing sponsorship for the event and Tonbridge & Malling BC for the use of the car park.
